45067 Volume 12 (Titles and text in German) Cigarettes-Picture Service, Hamburg-Bahrenfeld 1936-1st ed, all original, unpaginated, 75pages, small folio format, 31x23.5, stiff yellow card covers with large raised gilt German Eagle perched on a podium with the title underneath on the cover, and a raised gilt sword crossing a book on the rear cover. Stiff glue binding, with raised gilt title and volume number. All pages have black decorated boarders, each page has four color cards 7cmx8.5, and text for each card. Two hundred cards in total and complete order, no chips scratches or disfigurements.Divided into eight chapters of German history (great number dedicated to military victories and patriotism), as Germany geared itself for the Berlin Games and eventually World War Two. All pages are of thick quality paper. Mildest of spine wear to the top and bottom, bottom right corner of cover has three crease marks and the back inside cover has two small brown stains to the edge. Outstanding condition with only the mentioned minor examples of wear. The overall graphic design is undoubtably to promote German greatness in the pre war days. All eight chapters have introduction text, and include the German middle ages, Reformation and the 30 year war,The becoming of Brandenburg-Preussens (Prussia),The time of Fredrich the Great, German Thinkers, The time of Revolution, The Unification of Germany, and last, The time from 1871to 1914. Fantastic propaganda exercise, and an elaborate, extremely well preserved rare pre world war piece. $400.00AUD
